Tis the Season: Screen Actors Guild of America

These little buggers, the Screen Actors Guild of America, are always causing a fuss with the contenders they throw their weight behind. They make up the largest voting block at the Oscars and therefore their favorites often become Oscar favorites as well. 11 of the last 15 SAG winners for Best Actor went on to win the Oscar and 10 out of 15 Best Actress winners did the same. Those are pretty good odds here. SAG also offers a Best Ensemble, which is their equivalent of Best Picture. The most notable snub given its momentum thus far, UP IN THE AIR was not cited as Best Ensemble, despite earning three separate nods for the cast. Welcome to the official race, NINE.
