Tis the Season: The New York Film Critics Circle

My sincerest apologies Black Sheep readers. The New York Film Critics Circle announced their choices for best films and performances of 2009 yesterday but yesterday was a total write-off for me so I am only getting them to you now. On top of that, the Golden Globes have been announced so I've got to be quick and get to those as soon as possible. The New York guys continued to shower THE HURT LOCKER with love, as it takes both Best Picture and Best Director, mirroring the L.A. critic choices. IN THE LOOP continues its underdog climb toward a Best Screenplay Oscar as it takes another win here. The first love for Meryl Streep in JULIE AND JULIA is shown here. A lot of people think this is her year but I'm hoping the Academy leans more toward Gabourey Sidibe or Carey Mulligan. Meanwhile, more good news here for George Clooney, Mo'Nique and Christoph Waltz, as well as another win for FANTASTIC MR. FOX. It looks like Pixar has a fight on their hands. Here are the winners ...
