I guess it just gets me for all of my emotional issues ... boys not wanting to grow up ... writers looking for inspiration ... daddy issues. It is like the film equivalent of two hours of therapy for me. Not an incredible experiment in artistic filmmaking but its the heart that it has that gets to me every time.

Ah, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. That one is pure classic. It isn't for everyone but if you can tune into it, you will be forever happy that you did and all the more so changed for having done so. Great number one pic!

My only question now is, why do you like Eastwood so much?!Black Sheephttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09401179904634647186noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17116344.post-89001003252195023452010-01-13T22:04:35.519-05:002010-01-13T22:04:35.519-05:00I think it's been far too long since I watched...I think it's been far too long since I watched this movie (which I've admittedly only done once or twice). Peter Pan was the story I gravitated towards growing up - even more than Alice in Wonderland. So when I hear about work that plays with the Pan/Barry mythos, I'm automatically drawn in.

I liked FINDING NEVERLAND, but I've never been able to fall for it the way you did. Strange as it is for me to admit this, I think it's Depp that holds me back. He's charming in this movie - incredibly so - but he never seems to jump into the deep end of his own imagination. That disappointed me, since it should be a big part of his make-up.

I guess given my Peter Pan devotion ("Pandom"?? Nah), I wanted just that *little* bit more...or perhaps I was being too hard on it.

Regardless, great post on a great year - one of the very best of the decade. If you're curious, these were my favorites of 2004...

http://mcneilmatinee.blogspot.com/2009/07/decade-pt-v-top-five-00s-movies-2004.htmlRyan McNeilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00440134802928893661noreply@blogger.com
